Strawberry Fields

Produce: A wide range of vegetables Strawberry Fields organic farm is located ten miles north of Boston in Lincolnshire. It began as a self-sufficient dream for Pam Bowers and her family on a housing estate in Hertfordshire. The family started selling their surplus organic vegetables from their back garden in 1975, and the business grew from there. In 1980, they moved to Strawberry Fields as more land was needed for the blooming enterprise. The one-acre plot has grown into a fifty-three-acre business; it is a real family affair, with Pam’s sons Clyde and Dicken joining as second-generation organic farmers. More than fifty different varieties of organic vegetables are grown at Strawberry Fields. They include salad vegetables such as lettuce, celery and fennel, onions, leeks, sweet corn, beetroot, kale and squash, as well as herbs. The produce is picked to order in the fields and despatched the same day during summer, then bought into the barn in September, where it is dried and stored. The farm operates a minimum four year rotation, with brassicas on a longer rotation to promote bigger and better produce.

Almost 30 years as a customer, it's still a delight to find in our porch on Monday evenings - luscious tomatoes, deep red carrots, creamy potatoes, marvellous mushrooms, a huge cabbage, yellow beetroots - and that was just last week!
