Glebelands Organic Produce

Glebelands Organic Produce

Produce: Greens Glebelands Organic Produce is based on a three-acre site next to the banks of the Mersey River near Sale in Greater Manchester. The organic market garden was run for 12 years by Glebelands City Growers but has recently been taken over by Glebelands Organic Produce, headed by organic newcomer Daniel Larke. Daniel previously worked in the live music and events industry but became disillusioned with the long hours and time spent away from home. He began volunteering with organic producers, and in 2021 was offered the chance to buy the site at Glebelands from the previous owners. Committed to making a difference to the environment, Daniel says it has been a steep learning curve, but everything has come together, and the team have continued to offer the same high quality organic produce to supermarkets, wholesalers and box scheme customers. The site boasts three large permanent polytunnels, a greenhouse and several portable polytunnels. The main crops are salad mix, chard, coriander, courgettes, kale, radish, rhubarb, rocket, turnips, spring onions and globe artichokes. Some are started inside whilst other varieties are sown directly outside. Daniel is passionate about spreading the organic message, supplying a range of vegetable plants, herbs and flowers for people to grow at home.

Almost 30 years as a customer, it's still a delight to find in our porch on Monday evenings - luscious tomatoes, deep red carrots, creamy potatoes, marvellous mushrooms, a huge cabbage, yellow beetroots - and that was just last week!
